The operator Sprint has officially announced that in the first quarter of next year they sold smartphones Samsung Omnia HD and Samsung Moment will receive a new firmware, and the last one will be running OS Android 2.1. And the main improvements of the known devices will receive the function of the kinetic scrolling. What other features will be added – is unknown. However, if for Symbian-cmartfona Omnia HD scrolling was promised at the beginning of the year, on the introduction of OS Android 2.1 Flan is no such certainty – according to preliminary information of his installation on Samsung Moment would be possible somewhere in the first half of 2010. Official details will be announced after the New Year.

Sprint’s HTC Hero and Samsung Moment on track to get Android 2.1, not 2.0

So Sprint’s backtracking on its promise to deliver Android 2.0 to its Hero and Moment in the first half of next year, but it’s backtracking in an awesome way for a change of pace — they’ll actually be getting 2.1. That makes tons of sense considering that the leaked Hero builds have all been on 2.1 and 2.0 will be all but obsolete by the time HTC gets around to releasing anything — so yeah, we probably could’ve predicted this anyway, but now it’s official. Unfortunately that 1H 2010 window hasn’t been reigned in at all, but here’s hoping this is a case where they under-promise and over-deliver.

Guy over at SlashGear has made a review regarding Samsung Moment. It seems that Ewdi like this Samsung phone. Here are some explanations.

Samsung Moment has a mesmerize feature, 800MHz processor. In other side it seems the phone needs the improvement in the social network integration and User Interface (the better ones are HTC SENSE or MOTOBLUR).

Samsung Moment’s keyboard seems to impress everyone. Ewdi the reviewer also likes its audible click once the big keys are pressed. However there are some annoying things here.

So it is confirmed. The Samsung Moment keyboard may not meet the standard of CLIQ/DEXT. But the qwerty keyboard does the best in feel. This slide out keyboard is clicky and need a little bit pressure for actuating individual keys. It will not make you frustrated and only feel a little solid.

So the phone seems a little bulky but featured with the decent OLED screen. It is as gorgeous as Magic and G1. People have not yet tested this screen indoors until they get the review unit. (more…)
