Samsung Omnia HD i8910 don't get 1 GHz Processor

Remember my post that said India’s Samsung Omnia HD i8910 to get 1 GHz processor? Well, apparently the rumor is not true. Well it’s not totally false, either…. According to our source, India’s Samsung Omnia HD i8910 does got an addition of 420MHz speed of the handset’s DSP (sound processing chip) to the 600MHz speed of the ARM Cortex-A8 CPU. However, the addition still doesn’t add up the data processing speed of Omnia HD to 1 Ghz, since the Omnia HD still relies on the 600 MHz CPU.

Well, that is kinda disappointing, but hey, the Omnia HD is fast enough in its 600 MHz CPU… So with this news, Samsung still doesn’t have a smartphone with 1 GHz CPU. But the Samsung Jet is close enough with 800 MHz CPU :)

UPDATE: Samsung representative corrected the label to Cortex-A8 600MHz + DSP 430MHz

India's Samsung Omnia HD i8910: Equipped with 1 GHz Processor

Samsung Omnia HD i8910 has finally come to India after being sold in Europe for several months. What makes the announcement interesting is that India’s version of Samsung Omnia HD will use a powerful 1 GHz processor instead of the standard 600MHz processor, adding another reason to buy the Samsung Omnia HD.

However, along with the nice specs and features plus the 1 GHz processor comes a pretty high price… Samsung Omnia HD is said to be priced at 33,990 rupees (about $ 706).That is pretty expensive…

Anyway, to fresh your memory, Samsung Omnia HD is running on the Symbian S60 5th edition and it has a 3.7-inch AMOLED-touchscreen and 8-MP camera with autofocus, face,  burst and smile detection. In addition, it can also record and decode HD-video 720p. So to summary those specs, it is a multimedia monster.

Anyway, along with the Samsung Omnia HD announcement, India also introduced Samsung Omnia PRO B7320 that comes with Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard and priced at 16,500 rupees ($ 342).

Matther Miller at allaboutsymbian.com had written his personal oppinion regarding Samsung Omnia HD. Apparently finally he preferred to choose Apple iPhone for a reason, although everyone might admit that Samsung Omnia HD was great. Here are his short story.

He used Samsung Omnia Windows Mobile for approximately a month and then decided to move to Apple iPhone. The reason why he did not choose Omnia HD was simply because he was not a fan of big QWERTY keyboard like what Samsung Omnia HD had. However, he admitted that Omnia HD had beautiful display as well as design features.

Rafe and Steve form Allaboutsymbian.com had a detail review of Samsung OMNIA HD like mentioned below.

The software still had debug code so it might be better developed.
OMNIA HD maybe is the biggest screen phone, its heigh is relatively tall compared with others. It has bright and contrast color screen compare with others (in this chance are iPod Touch and Nokia 5800). OMNIA HD has the same problem with Nokia 5800, both dont have multi-touch. Before tapping a new key, you must lift off the previous key completely. Doing it too fast, a small overlap will happen and 2 inputs can be processed.
