Samsung is Bringing 12 MP Beast into Play at MWC ‘09

(this above is the Innov8, slightly photoshopped)
The next round of MP camera phones race is on start, and Samsung is making a dash right from the start. At the Mobile World Congress ’09 on 16th this month they plan to bring 12 MP Beast into play, while the US carriers are still battling to be the first with an 8-megapixel shooter on their shelves.
Samsung was the first vendor to bring out an 8MP camera phone (the Innov8, which was launched just one month before Sony Ericsson’s C905), and it will likely be the first to announce and launch a 12MP handset too. It’s said that Samsung plans to begin mass production before the end of February, with the intention of releasing it in Europe first. Previous reports said that Samsung also wants to produce an 8MP phone with 3x optical zoom. So there won’t be any surprise if we also see that at MWC 2009, alongside the 12MP handset.
We heard that Sony had some cameraphone-ready 12 megapixel CMOS sensors back in last year—which they will hopefully be set up on phone by March, and Samsung might have similar sensors prepped and packed inside some hardware by now.
