The Samsung Omnia II is the newest smartphone offered by Verizon Wireless. It has a few standout components, such as a 3.7-inch, WVGA, AM-OLED screen and a 5.0 megapixel camera/camcorder with flash, some new technology such as the Swype keyboard, and the usual features today’s consumers have come to expect, like Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
It is available now for $200 with a two-year contract and a $100 mail-in rebate.
BUILD & DESIGN
When I took the Omnia II out of the box, the first word that came to mind was “sexy” — this really is a nice looking device. It’s a little on the large side compared to other phones, but that’s due to the 3.7-inch, AM-OLED screen, which is absolutely gorgeous. The overall design is sleek and modern, mainly black with chrome accents on the buttons and hematite around the edges of the device.
Samsung Omnia II for VerizonThe battery cover on the back is basically black, but it has really cool red accents that show up more depending on how they catch the light. It’s a subtle effect, nothing too over-the-top or cheesy, but just different enough to set the Omnia II apart from the crowd of similar-looking devices. The top of the back panel is where you’ll find the lens for the 5.0 megapixel camera with flash and video capture capabilities.

AT&T’s simpler new touchscreen, full QWERTY slider offers a surprising range of social and fun features at a low price. Will this phone take off? Find out in our hands-on look at the Samsung Flight
The Samsung Flight on AT&T steps in where the Samsung Propel might have left off, but it’s available for less cash at launch and comes with upgraded features in almost every way. It’s a step down from the almost-smartphone aspirations of a more feature-rich phone like the Samsung Mythic, but the hardware is mostly solid and the Samsung Flight can be likeable in surprising ways, especially in terms of Web browsing and social networking.
In terms of features, the Samsung Flight might be a step up from the last generation of vertically-sliding QWERTY phones, but it’s still decidedly low-end. The camera around back is a 2-megapixel shooter that’s supposed to have auto focus, but we didn’t find it. The touchscreen display is also a novelty on a device in this form.

Undeniably, the Samsung Star S5230 has been a pretty successful device so far with total sales of over 10mln units. With the release of the Corby S3650 this fall, the manufacturer took another step on the path to conquering the market of affordable handsets with a cell phone aimed at people that normally remain out of the spotlight – the young. The device won over quite a few hearts and naturally, the manufacturer didn’t linger over its decision to come up with new members of the Corby family. Most of them are targeted at people who prefer texting to verbal means of communication, not to mention the former option is all the rage these days.
