The first one in its physical. Samsung Behold II is comfortable in hand. It has the ideal weight but the glossy plastic material makes it feels chintzy in hand. It has the pretty cool back cover but it will be easily scratched if you are careless. And then its 5-way navigational circle is friendly and the buttons is user friendly too (easy to press).

The interface seems not to be the user friendly one. It looks like the quite older interface: neon blues, neon orange, neon yellow and the background is black. You do not need to press the Menu key in order to unlock the screen. Instead you must press the unlock/lock key longer.

Samsung sponsoring Enlightenment?

samsung bada

Samsung may be sponsoring the Enlightenment window manager project and Enlightenment may be a component in Samsung’s bada mobile operating system. The Enlightenment project, which has been around since 1997, announced today that it was working with a “top-tier electronics maker” which “produces millions of mobile phones, televisions, sound systems and more”.

The announcement said that this vendor was actively sponsoring the development of Enlightenment and that one of the results of this development would be a version of Enlightenment tuned for use on a small screen with touch control. Screen sizes of 240 by 320 to 800 by 480 are discussed for the target devices. Phoronix has examined the change logs for the Enlightenment project and found that Samsung Electronics has recently committed code to the project. Samsung’s LGPL3 licensed contribution, Editje, is a graphical editor for edje files, used to lay out skinnable Enlightenment applications.

Just as we reported before, Verizon is expected to launch the Samsung Omnia II on December 2nd. Set to price at $199.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate and your John Hancock on a 2 year contract, the handset will ship with Windows Mobile professional 6.5 which could be why Verizon made everyone suffer through the long wait. The 3.7 inch AMOLED display, TouchWiz 2.0, 5MP camera and 8GB of internal memory all helps justify the price, which matches the cost of the Motorola DROID.

Verizon's Samsung Omnia II launching December 2 for $200

The wait is almost over for Verizon’s Samsung Omnia II. It may no longer be the first to launch in North America (that distinct honor now belongs to Bell), but we can finally say with some confidence that Verizon’s version of the Samsung Omnia II isn’t that far off. No, seriously: we’ve managed to get a peek at the carrier’s launch pack for the phone, and the big details here are that it’ll be launching in all channels (meaning telesales, online, and in-store) on December 2 for $199.99 on contract after a $100 mail-in rebate. That pricing puts it solidly in the upper echelon of Verizon’s offerings these days, yes — but when you consider that it’s got a 3.7-inch WVGA AMOLED display, 8GB of internal storage plus microSD expansion, 5 megapixel cam, and WinMo 6.5 Professional (allaying earlier concerns that 6.1 would be on shipping units), we think they can justify the outlay. Especially if you can resist the pull of a Droid Eris for a Benjamin cheaper once you set foot in the store, of course.
