After spending some time in our rumor mill the Samsung S5550 now made it to the front page since it can already be found in the stores. Strangely, the phone hasn’t been officially announced yet but it’s not the first time Samsung release a phone to the market without proper introduction.
The market entry of Samsung S5550 is like that of Samsung B3410: we saw it at the Spanish Phone House before it was announced.

It turns out that the Samsung C3510 Corby Pop will be making its way out of India after all. Renamed to Samsung C3510 Genoa it is joining the ranks of the ever-expanding Samsung Corby line. Despite sitting at the bottom of the range it brings social networking and music prowess, which should keep most of its target audience happy.
The Samsung S3650 Corby is an entry-level touch phone with modern styling but the Samsung C3510 Genoa takes this even further. The colorful “Fashion Jackets”, which define the S3650 Corby seem to have been cut for the sake of a lower price though.

We expect there to be no shortage of hot new PMPs announced this week, so manufacturers are looking for something — anything — to differentiate theirs from the rest. Samsung has two interesting angles for its latest players, the first being the MyFit, an 8GB model with integrated sensors to detect fat and stress, plus the typical accelerometer to measure your activities, and apps that can help you keep hydrated and even stop smoking — assuming you ever started. Oh, and it plays music, too.
Then there’s the Ice Touch, a 16GB model with a two-inch AMOLED screen that’s transparent, much like the Xperia Pureness, but with more colors and fewer stunned looking models.

To rival Android, Linux operating systems, Samsung Electronics, the electronic giant has announced its own open mobile operating system called as bada, which means “ocean” in Korean. It is designed for use in Smartphones and will enable rich user experience in various applications. The new operating system will be launched in December this year, when its SDK (Software Development Kit) is planned to be made available. The company predicts that bada-powered devices will become a major thrust in the market in 2010.
Bada operating system
Samsung announced the bada operating system on 10 November, 2009, and the company expects that the first mobile phone based on the operating system will be displayed in the first half of 2010, and will be available to consumers in the second half of 2010. It seems that complaint report on the Samsung i8910 Omnia HD has finally paid off. Samsung just announced an upcoming firmware update that will address some of the issues the user community has reported. Unfortunately, the less-than-24fps video recording is not among them.
There are three changes that the firmware update will bring. The first is an improved browser, with faster user interface. The browser on the Samsung i8910 Omnia HD needed a kick in the pants for its real life experience.
The next update is the addition of kinetic scrolling, which the browser already has, but the rest of the interface doesn’t. Samsung spruced up the S60 5th edition UI with its widget happy TouchWiz UI, but changes didn’t go much further than the homescreen. At least now, the Samsung Omnia HD can catch up with the rest of the touchscreen gang.

Asus may have been the first company to launch a consumer-oriented netbook, but Acer has been the market leader for much of the past two years. Still, Asus has been hanging on to second place and continues to innovate in the netbook space. But DigiTimes reports that Samsung is poised to surpass Asus in terms of the number of netbooks shipped in 2010.
The numbers aren’t precise, but apparently Asus expects to ship about 6 million Eee PC branded netbooks next year, while Samsung could ship around 7 or 8 million netbooks. The company has been busy introducing new models including the recently launched Samsung N130 and N140 Intel Atom N270-based netbooks, and the Samsung N510 with NVIDIA ION graphics. It also looks like Samsung is preparing a few new models which may be ready in time for CES.
Acer is expected to hold on to its lead by shipping about 12 million netbooks next year.
Of course, computers are just a small portion of Samsung’s overall business. The company also makes a wide range of electronics including televisions, set-top-boxes and mobile phones, while Acer is primarily a PC maker.
Asus, meanwhile is focusing its efforts more heavily on larger, higher powered notebooks in 2010.
